We are now in day ten, and I have made the solemn choice to cancel the several Direct Debits I have had on my bank account for many months now for charities.
This amount totals £26 and I have been doing that for some time (that is £312 per year, roughly a twelfth of how much money I get from my Benefits!) so I am hoping that it has made a difference to the three charities - Action For The Blind, Barnardos and the Dog's Trust - but I have made this decision so that I can make a difference to other charities, now.
If I take that £26 per month and place it towards Direct Debits for different charities, or I contribute to fundraisers, for instance, I think it is worth the cancellation.
Honestly, if I could give money to every charity, I would, but I am not a millionaire, and my funds are very, very limited being of the unemployed, disabled position, so I must do what little I can, when I can. With that in mind, if you have a fundraiser you would like me to put some of that £26 towards that I am now giving elsewhere, please do let me know. Thank you.
The adventures of Thanet-based journalist Illisia Adams as she attempts to "Treat Every Day Like Christmas Day" for three-hundred-and-sixty-five days of the year, from the Christmas of 2016 until the next Christmas. This means volunteering, fundraising, acts of kindness, giving cards and presents to friends and family, and other such "Holiday Spirit" activities. I hope that I will inspire others to have a similar attitude!
